With a specialized degree in pedagogy, extended studies in Bioethics, and a career as an elementary school educator, she currently is a professor of psychology and pedagogy. Dr.Piarulli is the standing President of Italy's National Association of Pedagogues, and participant in an initiative of Save the Children concentrating on children's and adolescents' rights. She is a lecturer and consultant for educational facilities on topics such as bullying, cyber-bullying, integration, learning difficulties, and other issues affecting today's youths' formative years, and serves on the advisory board for the scientific journal “Professione Pedagogista”. Her published works include books on bullying and adolescent sociology, as well as numerous articles and contributions to occupational periodicals in the field of pedagogy on bullying, education, justice for minors, the importance of hands-on learning, and socio-cultural issues for adolescents.
